Paris (Reuters) – A French helicopter attached a six-meter digital audio broadcasting antenna to the top of the Iron Lady Eiffel Tower in Paris on Sunday, raising the tower’s height from 324 meters to 330 meters. The Eiffel Tower, the iron Lady of Paris, is about to turn 133 years old but is still growing, le Parisien reported. On Monday, the tower grew six meters in the blink of an eye and now commands a commanding view of Paris from a height of 330 meters instead of 324 meters.Sunday’s antenna installation lasted 15 minutes and was the first time the tower has used a helicopter to install new equipment. The new digital audio broadcast antenna installed on the top of the tower itself is 5.5 meters in length, and the lightning rod is 0.5 meters. The antenna will be put into use soon, which has multiple advantages over the traditional broadcast antenna. The antenna is made in Germany and chosen to match the color of the tower.Originally known as the Tour 300, the Eiffel Tower, built in 1889, is the tallest building in Paris, a landmark on the banks of the Seine and one of the most visited sites in France. The Eiffel Tower has grown taller over several times, the last being six metres in 2000 for digital terrestrial television, but it has not grown in 22 years.(overseas network – Paris – Lujia) overseas network copyright works, shall not be reproduced without authorization.
