Amazon will raise its annual Prime membership fee by 17% to $139 from $119, the company announced today during its q4 conference call.Amazon cited “continued expansion of Prime membership benefits, as well as rising wages and shipping costs” as reasons for the price increase.Amazon last raised Prime prices in April 2018 because of higher shipping and other benefits costs.Amazon announced on Thursday that the price change will take effect on February 18 for new Prime members, and after March 25 for existing members, the new price will apply.Amazon also announced an increase in the monthly subscription fee for Prime members to $14.99 from $12.99.Amazon shares jumped 15 per cent after hours after the results were announced.
