SIA: Global semiconductor sales up 32.4% year on year in February China continues to lead

The global semiconductor industry posted sales of $52.5 billion in February 2022, up 32.4% from February 2021 and 3.4% from January 2022, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) reported Wednesday.”Global semiconductor sales remained strong in February, increasing by more than 20% year-over-year for the 11th consecutive month,” said John Neuffer, PRESIDENT and CEO of SIA.In terms of SIA sales, China continued to lead all regional markets with $16.6 billion in sales, followed by apAC/All Other regions ($15.9 billion), followed by The Americas ($11.6 billion), Europe ($4.5 billion) and Japan ($3.8 billion), which remained unchanged from January 2022.In terms of growth, the Americas grew 43.2% year on year, the highest of all regional markets.Asia Pacific/All Other regions (41.4%), Europe (29.3%), China (21.8%) and Japan (21.6%) all recorded year-on-year growth.Quarter-on-quarter growth was recorded in Asia Pacific/Other regions (18.6%) and Europe (1.4%), but sales fell slightly in Japan (-1.3%), China (-2.3%) and the Americas (-3.0%).(Proofreading/Indreich)
