The Yangzan-Indochina Peninsula international freight train made its debut at Guoyuan Port in Chongqing on April 7, opening up a new route linking the Yangtze River port to Yangon, Myanmar, and the Indian Ocean.Western Lu Haixin channel is made up of China’s western provinces cooperation with asean countries to build new international sea trade channels, operations center in chongqing, the western provinces as the key node, using the mode of transportation, such as the railway, shipping, south coastal border port access by guangxi, yunnan, etc all over the world, than the eastern region significantly shorten the time needed for the sea.According to Wang Yupei, president of the New Land-Sea Channel Operation Co., LTD., the yangtse-Indochina Peninsula international freight train will reach Vientiane in Laos via the China-Laos railway, then transfer to road transport, transit Thailand and finally reach Myanmar.This freight train is a further extension of the china-Myanmar-India international freight train, which has opened up another fast channel connecting the western region with the Indian Ocean.”Compared to the traditional logistics route of reaching eastern coastal cities via the Yangtze River and then going out to sea, the new route can save more than 20 days of one-way transportation time, which will form a more economical and convenient alternative.”Related person in charge of Chongqing Guoyuan Port International Logistics Hub Construction and Development Co., LTD said that goods in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and western regions can be transshipped through guoyuan Port by means of water-iron combined transport, and then directly to the Indian Ocean via Myanmar.By the end of 2021, the destinations of the New Land-Sea Corridor had expanded to 315 ports in 107 countries (regions) around the world, according to the Logistics and Operation Organization Center of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor.In 2021, the volume of rail-sea freight trains originating from Chongqing will increase by 60 percent, cross-border highway shuttle buses and international railway freight trains by 17 percent and 30 percent, respectively.(Reporter Zhao Yufei)
